Clarence Town Healthcare bulk bills all standard and long GP
consultations for patients with a valid Medicare card. For anything
billed outside Medicare, our reception team explains the fee before you book – so you always know where you stand.
A trusted local practice since 2014
At Clarence Town Healthcare, we are pleased to bulk bill standard and long consultations for eligible patients. This helps make quality general practice care more accessible to the Clarence Town community and surrounding areas.
Bulk billing means Medicare covers the full cost of your visit and there is no out-of-pocket expense on the day. To be eligible, you need a valid Medicare card. When you check in, you confirm the visit as bulk billed so Medicare pays the practice directly for your appointment.
Please note that bulk billing applies to standard and long GP consultations only. Certain services are billed at a private rate or attract a gap fee. These include (but are not limited to) in-clinic procedures and workers compensation (WorkCover) consultations. Fees for these services are payable at the time of your appointment. Where a Medicare rebate applies, the claim is lodged electronically at reception and the rebate is paid into the bank account you have registered with Medicare.
Bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card. No out-of- pocket cost on the day
Billed at a private rate. Reception confirms the fee before your appointment, and a Medicare rebate applies where an MBS item is available.
WorkCover consultations, pre-employment checks, and insurance medicals are billed privately and are not covered by Medicare.
Unsure whether a visit is covered or what a service will cost? Call reception on (02) 4996 4003 - we would rather talk it through than see you put off care
with no rebate. Please let reception know at booking so we can confirm the fee in advance.
Your Medicare card, any concession or DVA card if applicable, and a list (or the packaging) of any medications you are currently taking. If you have recent test results, imaging, or a specialist letter from another provider, bring those too.
If it is your first visit, please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to complete a new patient form at reception. Returning patients can arrive a couple of minutes early to confirm your details are up to date.
Write down anything you want to ask before you arrive - symptoms, changes you have noticed, questions about a medication, or something you have been meaning to check. A short list means nothing important gets forgotten in the room.
General practice at its best is a conversation, not a checklist. Our doctors start every visit with a proper look at what is going on for you, ask questions rather than assume, and then work with you on a plan you actually understand.
Where a condition needs ongoing attention, we coordinate the
follow-up. Where a specialist opinion is needed, we refer to people we know and trust. Where reliable information will help you at home, we point you to it. The aim is simple: you leave knowing what is happening with your health and what comes next.
